About DJTECH

Geek's Tale

A computer geek since my teenage years. A seasoned and experienced creative technology innovator and problem solver by profession. I was inspired and motivated by the technology pioneers before us. With family friends at Bell Labs and Westinghouse when I was younger, I was exposed to what thinking different was all about. Being a little off-center was okay, think different, be different, and together, the engineering mindset can indeed change the world.

Two of my longest corporate endeavors were working for enterprise software companies focused on data protection and security. In those years, I wore many hats as the organizations grew. Whatever tasks and projects were delegated in my direction, I tackled with vigor and confidence. Both of those journeys began with under 200 employees and expanded over time to 3000+ during my tenure. Smaller growth phases allow for greater impact and ability to make measurable differences.

Present day, I can look back and reflect, revisit, and reawaken based upon the skills, projects, and experiences of my past. As I mentor young graduates entering the field today, I can pass along the knowledge and wisdom of my journey so far.

Epic Adventures

Unconventional in my travels, I always take the path less traveled, and it has made all the difference. I do not take the cookie-cutter summer vacation, packaged Caribbean boat cruise, or all-inclusive resort getaway. I prefer unique adventures where I do not see massive touring groups visiting via chartered bus, all checking off items on their bucket list. FOMO vacations are not my style.

Picture This

Wherever I do travel on my journeys, I believe a picture is worth a thousand words. I like to capture the unique beauty that exists in our massive world. I believe that detailed stories can be told with just a single still image. Here at DJTECH.net, you will find volume after volume of great stories and travels as seen via the camera lenses. Enjoy the stories.

DJTECH - Nickname

Where does “DJTECH” come from? In my early career of online support services, there were three Daves on a team of six, which made it quite a challenge for clients to know whom they were speaking with. Additionally, when your name is Dave Johnson, you share one of the most common American names with over 300,000 other people. Go ahead; Google the name, or try to find the needle in the haystack on Facebook. Other identity challenges include the TSA no-fly list, a title search when purchasing a home, even making sure the pharmacy is giving you the correct prescription. Even had a bounty hunter arrive at my home once. Basically, identity issues can be quite challenging; hence online, I am DJTECH.

Welcome to my website, my little soapbox amongst the tubes and wires we collectively now call the internet.
